Tattoo Removal - Methods

People get tattoos for a number of reasons. Maybe you had a boyfriend or girlfriend that you wanted to prove your love for by permanently placing their name on your body. Or, you could have had a group of friends that were all getting body designs and you didn't want to be left out. Furthermore, you could have been involved in something more serious like a gang, and had to get inked to prove your loyalty. No matter what your situation was, you don't have to live with it any more. Tattoo removal is common these days and depending on what you have, the process can be successful through a variety of methods. Just keep in mind that all body art is not created equally and there is no absolute guarantee that your skin will be completely flawless after the procedure.

Creams
There are various ways to get tattoo removal. If you're looking for something that's not invasive, there are creams you can use to try and fade your body art. Although this will not usually get rid of the mark completely, it may help make it not as noticeable. Also, the color of your body art can help you determine how fast or slow your mark will fade. For instance, in many cases, colors like yellow and red tend to go away faster than darker colors such as green or a blue. That's because the lighter colors aren't as concentrated, therefore they are easier to lighten or fade with just a cream.

Lasers
On the other hand, if you have really stubborn markings that are mainly black in color, then a laser treatment could really be beneficial in tattoo removal. That's because a laser picks up dark colors, specifically black really well. As a result, the color is easier to break down. More than one session will most likely be required and the technician or doctor may use different lasers that target certain colors better than others. Many inks such as from a blue or black pen or India ink are practically permanent. That's why you will need to go in for more than one session since it takes time for a laser to really eliminate such ink. This is because the skin is made up of various layers and a laser penetrates the layers. Yet, if the ink is really stubborn, the process can become really tedious as well as expensive. If this sounds like too much, then some people decide to cover their body art with something new to help camouflage the old art.

Additional methods While lasers and creams are common tattoo removal options, there are other choices you can make. However, some of these procedures are said to be excruciating and at the end of the process, your body art may not be gone. One of the most drastic methods is called excision, where the body art is cut off and then the skin is stitched back together. This process is said to be really painful and leaves unflattering scars. Another way is through scrubbing or sanding the skin away. This is called dermabrasion and it too was hard to endure, as well as pretty ineffective in getting rid of the tattoo.
